LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA – – Today, Orange County Senator Pat Bates announced that she has received the endorsement of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association PAC. One of California’s leading taxpayer advocates, Pat Bates has championed taxpayer issues throughout her public service career. Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association PAC Chairman Jon Coupal cited Bates “strong and constant support for Proposition 13 and excellent service to taxpayers” in announcing the endorsement. In the Howard Jarvis Association ratings for 2021, Pat Bates was the highest-rated pro-taxpayer Legislator in the State of California. “I have worked closely with the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association for many years, advocating for the taxpayers and homeowners of our state and I appreciate receiving their endorsement in my campaign for Supervisor,” said Bates. “Protecting Prop. 13 and rooting waste fraud and abuse out of government will always be one of my very highest priorities.” In 2006, Bates became the fourth woman to win the election to the Orange County Board of Supervisors. She served from 2007 to 2014 and worked to protect taxpayers and improve the county’s fiscal outlook; create business-friendly policies to attract jobs; maintain high levels of public safety; shorten the timeline for delivery of transportation projects; implement pension reforms; and protect the environment. In the Senate, Bates champions taxpayers by defending Proposition 13 (which limits property tax increases) from efforts to gut it and opposing unnecessary tax and fee increases. She is a strong supporter of law enforcement. |
